Ocala, FL, firefighters rescued a person who was struck by and pinned underneath a train Monday.

Florida firefighters freed a pedestrian who was struck and pinned by a train Monday.

Ocala crews responded to a call of an individual who had been hit by a train just before 4:45 p.m., according to the department. When firefighters arrived, they discovered the person was trapped underneath the train.

Paramedics soon began evaluating the person and providing medical care while crews started extricating the individual. The person finally was free by about 5 p.m. and taken to Ocala Regional Medical Center, the department added
