CT Firefighters Free Person Trapped Under Tractor-Trailer

One person was airlifted to a hospital after Willimantic firefighters rescued the individual, who had been pinned beneath the wheels of a tractor-trailer following a crash.

One person was seriously injured Wednesday night after they were pinned underneath the wheels of a tractor trailer truck in Willimantic.

Firefighters were able to free the person just before 9 p.m., and they were transported by a LifeStar helicopter for treatment, officials said.

The crash occurred just after 8:30 p.m. near the Thread City Crossing bridge and Pleasant Street, but few other details about the incident were immediately available.
