Oklahoma City firefighters needed to bring in medical personnel to perform a field amputation when they couldn't free a man's arm from heavy machinery.

An iron company worker in Oklahoma City needed to have his arm amputated when rescue crews could not remove it from heavy machinery Thursday afternoon.

According to KFOR News, the man had become ensnared in a conveyor belt, suffering an extreme injury, and could not be freed without an amputation being performed. A doctor was called in by Oklahoma City Fire Department rescue personnel and removed the man's arm near the shoulder.

No further details on his condition were available.

Video from the scene shows Oklahoma City firefighters using an aerial platform to bring the man down from the machinery and package him for transport.
