Man Freed from Trench by Montgomery County, MD, Technical Rescue Team

It took hours for the team to rescue the worker buried up to his armpits, Montgomery County fire officials said.

A technical rescue team worked for hours Tuesday to free a man trapped in a trench in Potomac.

The worker was buried up to his armpits about 13 feet down.

Technical rescue crews, who broke through a wall and foundation of a basement of a nearby home, used shovels and a vaccum to remove the extra dirt, WJLA reported.

The man, who was performing utility work when the collapse occurred, was flown to a trauma center for injuries.
