Salt Lake City Firefighter Justin Morrow was driving with his family when he saw the rollover and rushed to the scene.

Off-duty Salt Lake City firefighter Justin Morrow was with his family, wrapping up a months-long recovery from injury when he jumped in to help a driver and two children in a rollover crash and grass fire on a Salt Lake City ramp.

Morrow told KSL News, "We've got our heads on a swivel and we're always looking — whether we're on-duty or off-duty — we're looking for opportunities to be able to help individuals."

Morrow, who is a firefighter engineer, hazardous materials technician and EMT with the Salt Lake City Fire Department, was driving with his family on I-215, preparing to exit onto state Route 201 when he saw a cloud of dust near the ramp.

As he got closer, he saw people rushing to the accident scene.

Two women tried to free the two children stuck in the back seat, while Morrow tended to the driver, who had be thrown from the car.

As the women got the children out of the car, the engine caught fire and began to spread through the high grass.

Morrow said he would normally never move a patient in this condition, but had no choice.

Medics soon arrived and transported all three victims to the hospital. Firefighters were able to quickly put out the flames.
