TN Driver Rescued from Floodwaters

Feb. 24, 2022
Multiple Tennessee public safety agencies worked to rescue a driver from flood waters in Hawkins County.

The driver of a vehicle was rescued by a regional swiftwater rescue team and local public safety agencies after his vehicle overturned trapping him in flood waters.

The Hawkins County Squad was dispatched to 1441 Stanley Valley Road in Rogersville for a vehicle in the flood waters with a male occupant still on board.

Initial responders realized they would need additional resources and requested support from regional agencies, according to a Hawkins County Rescue Squad Facebook post.

Rescue crews maintained contact with the victim while positioning rescuers downstream in the event the driver came out of his vehicle.

Upon arrival of the regional swiftwater rescue team, crews used a raft to access the victim and safely bring him to shore.

Hawkins County EMS transported the victim to an area hospital for additional treatment and care. The rescue efforts took emergency crews approximately three hours from time of dispatch to being transported by EMS.
