An Ohio firefighter who slipped off the running board of a fire truck has died.
South Zanesville Firefighter Terry Richard Guss died Sunday afternoon of injuries he sustained Friday after falling and striking his head on the concrete floor.
Guss, who also is the mayor, was initially talking and in little pain when he was transported to the hospital, Chief Norm Mansfield told WHIZ reporters.
However, CT scans told another story, and showed he had a few small bleeds on his brain. When the bleeds enlarged, he underwent emergency surgery, the station reported.
Guss was removed from life support, and died about 1 p.m. Sunday
