Fla. Fire Captain Hit by Ladder Backing at Incident

    Capt. Mike McBrien apparently fainted and fell behind the truck.

    A Boca Raton fire captain is recovering after he collapsed and his leg was run over by a ladder truck.

    Mike McBrien suffered a fractured leg in the incident at the scene of an automatic alarm early Thursday, according to WPTV.

    "Thankfully, on Thanksgiving, he's doing pretty well," Assistant Chief Michael LaSalle told a reporter. "His family is by his side and some of our executive staff is there.  We're just making sure he's being taken care of which he is."

    LaSalle said the captain apparently fainted in the path of the backing apparatus.
