Syracuse firefighters are mourning the loss of an 11-year member who died hours after completing his shift.
A family member found Ethan Cunningham, 47, deceased at home on Feb. 6, just a couple hours after returned home from his shift.
During the Feb. 5 shift, Cunningham responded to one emergency call and participated in strenuous hose drill training, according to a release from the U.S. Fire Administration.
The cause of his death has not been released.
Cunningham joined the Syracuse Fire Department on June 1, 2005 and worked at Station 9 on the D-shift
"You will be missed, and our deepest condolences to your family. Rest easy Brother, we'll take it from here!" the department posted on their Facebook page.
