MI Firefighter Shoots Self While Battling Blaze

An Athens firefighter is doing well after accidentally shooting himself in the groin Monday during a brush fire.

A firefighter in southwest Michigan was in the hospital Monday night after a gun that was in his pocket discharged while he was battling a brush fire.

WWMT reports that the unidentified Athens firefighter accidentally shot himself in the groin during efforts to contain a fire in Calhoun County.

Authorities say the firefighter, who has a concealed pistol license, was doing well after the incident.
