A Tarrant firefighter was rushed to the hospital via police escort Sunday morning after he was critically injured while battling a blaze.
Tarrant Fire and Rescue and Tarrant police responded about 8:15 a.m. to a fire on Woodrow Drive. Once on the scene, they found a house fully-involved. Multiple fire services responded to assist.
Tarrant police Det. Cpl. James Butterbrodt said fire Lt. Jerry Presley was on a ladder when the ladder fell. The firefighter fell about 12 feet and was rushed to UAB Hospital’s Trauma Center. He is currently in critical condition in UAB’s Trauma and Burn Unit.
No other injuries were reported during the fire. "The Tarrant Fire Department is asking for prayers at this time,'' Butterbrodt said.
