Buffalo Mayor Byron W. Brown shared some positive news from the Buffalo Fire and Police departments.
So far, 33 firefighters who contracted COVID-19 have recovered and returned to work. So have 53 police officers.
"The number of coronavirus infections are improving," Brown said.
Meanwhile, seven firefighters are positive for the virus currently, and 18 others are on administrative leave as they self-quarantine as a precaution.
In the Police Department, four officers are positive for the virus, while 22 others are out on administrative leave.
Brown provided the updated figures Friday in a live COVID-19 briefing on his Facebook page.
Emergency response services provided by both Buffalo Police and Fire remain operational without interruption in services, he said.
Precautions to protect the first responders continue, Brown added, including "deep cleanings" of police stations, firehouses and vehicles.
