Seven New Jersey firefighters were sent to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries after a downed power line landed on an aerial apparatus at a fire scene.
WABC reports that the incident happened early Wednesday morning at the scene of a fifth-alarm fire that burned through two homes in Jersey City.
As crews were arriving at the scene, an energized power line came unmoored and landed on the ladder truck, shocking multiple firefighters and a captain.
"They were either in the truck or near the truck," Jersey City Fire Chief Steven McGill said. "They were close enough where they had minor electrical shock."
Eighteen residents from six families were left homeless by the fire, which began in an alleyway between the two buildings.
The fire is under investigation.
