A homicide investigation is underway after a Maryland firefighter was killed and two others injured in a weekend shooting in Washington D.C.
According to ABC 13 News, Prince George's County firefighter Garry Stanley, 44, was shot and killed in Southwest D.C. near Nationals Park on Saturday night.
Metropolitan Police officers responded around 11:08 p.m. to the 1300 block of Half Street SW and found two men and one woman suffering from gunshot wounds.
The MPD says the woman was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and that one man was treated on the scene for minor injuries, but another man who was later identified as Stanley was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Prince George's County FD announced the 19-year fire service veteran's death in a Facebook post but did not offer any further details or comment.
"Please keep Garry’s family and brothers and sisters in the fire service in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time," the post says.
