An Ulster Hose Company #5 firefighter sustained numerous facial injuries and broken bones while at a medical call where he was dragged by the vehicle.
Fire crews were dispatched for a person who had overdosed in a vehicle. When crews arrived, they found a male unconscious and had to force their way into the vehicle, according to a Facebook post from the department.
After gaining access, crews administered Narcan then began removing the patient. At the same time, the vehicle went into reverse and began to roll backwards, dragging a member before the firefighter could break free.
The member sustained numerous facial injuries and broken bones. In the Facebook post, the department said, “We ask that you keep our member in your thoughts as he begins his recovery process.”
