A Baltimore firefighter was shot in the face with an air pellet gun and another's arm was struck as he got out of the engine.
WJZ reported one firefighter was working on a patient when he was struck by pellets fired by a person in a vehicle.
"One of the other members who actually got out of the vehicle was struck by the car on his arm," Assistant Chief Roman Clark told reporters, adding that both will be OK.
Mayor Brandon Scott visited them. "Our firefighters and EMTs are dedicated to the people of Baltimore when they need lifesaving assistance. Despite tonight's senseless incident both firefighters remain committed to serving the people of Baltimore."
Fire Chief Niles R. Ford said the "isolated incident" will not change things. "Our first responders made a commitment to care for residents and visitors within the City of Baltimore..."
