TX FF Dead of Injuries Suffered in Crash while Responding

Diboll Firefighter Joe Parish, 67, died of injuries days after a wreck.

Diboll firefighters are mourning the loss of one of their own.

Firefighter Joe Parish, 67, died Friday of injuries sustaining in a crash days earlier, according to Lufkin Daily News.

Diboll Chief Aaron Smith said Parish was responding to a request for mutual aid from the Fuller Springs Volunteer Fire Department, 

Parish alert and responsive. But, he became unresponsive as EMTs arrived. He was flown to Tyler hospital for emergency surgery.

An honor guard made up of several fire departments in the region escorted Parish back to Diboll Friday afternoon.
