OH Fire Chief, Captain Killed Making Repairs at Station
Officials says Concord-Green Fire Chief Ralph Stegbauer and Capt. Jeffery Skaggs were ejected from a lift while repairing an antenna outside their fire station.
Concord-Green Fire Chief Ralph Stegbauer and Capt. Jeffery Skaggs died when a lift overturned while they were working on a radio antenna outside the fire station in Staunton.
The Concord-Green Fire Department fire chief and a captain died while working on a communications antenna outside their fire station Saturday.
A 9-1-1 call sent emergency crews to the fire station in the Village of Staunton around 11 a.m. and responders found a mechanical lift had overturned, according to Highland County Press.
The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office said Concord-Green Fire Chief Ralph Stegbauer and Capt. Jeffery Skaggs were pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials believe they were ejected from the lift's basket that tipped over when they were repairing the large antenna.
Fayette County officials said the Concord-Green Fire Department is out of service and other communities will respond to their calls.
