Boyne, MI, Firefighter Suspended after Fatal Crash while Responding in POV

A civilian in the other vehicle was killed in the collision involving the one driven by the Boyne Valley Fire Rescue firefighter.

BOYNE CITY, MI – One person is dead, and a firefighter is suspended after a crash in Northern Michigan on Monday, WPBN/WGTU reports.

A member of Boyne Valley Fire & Rescue was driving their personal vehicle to a call when the crash happened Monday afternoon on M-75 near Air Industrial Parkway Drive in Boyne City, the report said. Another driver pulled out onto the road into the path of the firefighter, resulting in the crash, Fire Chief Darren Eaton told the TV station.

Firefighters responded to the crash scene and used the jaws of life to extricate the deceased person from their vehicle, the report said. Their identity has not been released.

The Charlevoix County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash.
