Charlotte NC - Coming to the Queen City for Fire-Rescue International 2017 is newly formed Vanguard Safety Wear. In 2015, two industry veterans joined to push the boundaries of PPE innovation. Frustrated with products that cannot provide both advanced performance features - grip, dexterity, flexibility - plus the durability to survive the fireground, Vanguard began developing the ultimate structural firefighting glove, MK-1.
The MK-1 was created for the street level firefighters who do the work. The business partners are firefighters/instructors and no corners were cut in validating the design, construction, performance and durability. For nearly two years the glove was rigorously proven for safety and performance in the field at some of the largest urban departments in North America and under the most intense live fire training conditions.

CEO Andy Shapiro is a veteran designer of well-known firefighting and other protective gloves. Marketing Manager Ryan Pennington is an experienced firefighter and internationally known instructor. Business Manager Nick Dinges is a veteran firefighter who owns a successful fire equipment dealership in the Midwest and IT Manager Jamie Reed is a proven administrator with a firefighter focused approach.
A pair of MK-1 structural gloves will be given away daily to an attendee who stops by Table 17 in Concourse A and registers for Vanguard’s e-mail list.
