Team Wendy presents RECON Tactical, a next-generation bump helmet that combines protection, fit, and functionality into a single, adjustable design for military, training, tactical law enforcement and search and rescue (SAR) activities.

RECON Tactical is a versatile product that can be used in a variety of settings because to its streamlined profile, secure fit, and wide attachment compatibility. With additional field input from FEMA responders, firefighters, the U.S. Coast Guard, and other highly specialized teams, it was developed under the direction of a dedicated study program to better understand how contemporary rescue professionals function.

In order to create a helmet that is as versatile as the professionals who depend on it, Team Wendy concentrated on protection against head collisions and falling objects, accessory compatibility, and a comfortable long-wear fit with RECON Tactical. Military-standard interfaces for headsets, lights and goggles are included, along with side rails, an NVG shroud with a machined aluminum plate, bungee cords with hooks to stabilize front-mount accessories, and exterior Velcro loop panels.

RECON Tactical's low-profile hybrid shell, reinforced with a carbon fiber crown, giving it a streamlined appearance and increased strength without sacrificing its secure-on-the-head feel:

  • Cam lock sliders are used in the CAM FIT retention system for easy one-handed adjustment.
  • The BOA dial function, which feels like a baseball hat, distributes gentle, even pressure across the head to regulate the helmet's weight.
  • Lattice cooling pads, shell vents, and zorbium foam pads balance airflow, impact absorption, and long-wear support.
  • Depending on their preferences and mission requirements, customers can also choose between a sport-style retention option and a chin cup.

“RECON Tactical is the most advanced, highest-performing bump helmet in our portfolio,” said Bryan Javorek, product category manager. “Patent coverage is issued or is pending on several components and systems, which speaks to the engineering behind this helmet and the way it brings protection, stability and utility together."

“A few things keep coming up in the early feedback from rescue professionals and field evaluators: the light feel, small profile and better airflow, all right out of the box. And from there, they start noticing the details like the carbon fiber crown, mounting options and the overall thoughtfulness behind it. It gives us confidence that the design is resonating the way we hoped it would.”

RECON Tactical is available in M/L and XL sizes in red, yellow, black, white and coyote brown. It may be further customized with reflective tape kits and vent covers. For high-visibility SAR needs, a SOLAS kit will be offered.

The helmet provides impact protection in accordance with EN 12492:2012 for climbing helmets, EN 1385:2012 for whitewater helmets, NATO AEP 2902-Method H, and U.S. ACH AR/PD 14-02 for combat helmets—benchmarks that demonstrate adaptable engineering across various task sets.

Through applied research, end-user involvement, and rigorous design and development targeted at lowering the risk of head trauma, including traumatic brain injury (TBI), Team Wendy is dedicated to protecting those who face danger on a daily basis.
