Panama City Beach, FL, August 26, 2024 — ATOR Labs, a mission-driven leader in life support equipment testing, proudly announces the launch of the OMNIcheck®—the world’s first breathing machine compliant with both NFPA 1981 and NFPA 1852 standards. Designed to meet the exacting requirements of ISO 16900, the OMNIcheck® is set to transform testing protocols for firefighters, fire departments, and training facilities worldwide through its comprehensive annual NFPA/EN SCBA flow tests.
“OMNIcheck® ensures that open and closed circuit SCBAs, PAPRs, gas masks, and half masks perform exactly as designed, certified, and expected,” said Rob Moran, President of ATOR Labs.
ATOR Labs has brought together a team of elite life support equipment testing experts who actively contribute to the development of international standards by participating on technical boards for the International Standards Organization (ISO), the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and the International Society for Respiratory Protection (ISRP). In addition to its pioneering products, ATOR Labs offers consultation services, leveraging decades of operational experience to support both private and public sector leaders, including the U.S. Department of Defense and top-tier academic institutions such as MIT, Stanford, and Harvard University.
In 2018, ATOR Labs introduced its flagship product, the Automated Breathing and Metabolic Simulator (ABMS), which remains the most advanced simulator of human respiration to date. The ABMS has been vital in helping certifying agencies and companies across various industries ensure their products meet global regulatory standards, including those set by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), OSHA, the European Union, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and ISO.
Building on the success of the ABMS, ATOR Labs launched the OMNIcheck® in 2023. This innovative, “future-proof” Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) and life support equipment validator meets rigorous NFPA, EN, and ISO standards. With an intuitive software interface, the OMNIcheck® allows users to efficiently re-certify life support equipment while adhering to OSHA 1910.134 record-keeping requirements.
In the U.S., the OMNIcheck® is already providing NFPA 1852-compliant flow testing, comparing life support equipment performance against established standards to support robust respiratory protection programs. Internationally, users across Europe, Africa, and Australia can input local testing requirements for any SCBA model into OMNIcheck’s® versatile software, with all data and test reports easily accessible from a native database.
“As the life support equipment industry adopts new ISO standards for testing methods, equipment, and performance requirements, the OMNIcheck® will become an essential tool for manufacturers and consumers alike, ensuring compliance with the highest global standards”, added Moran.
Whether evaluating prototype designs of powered air-purifying respirators or conducting SCBA re-certifications, ATOR Labs continues to be the trusted partner for cutting-edge evaluation tools and performance data, helping to shape the future of life support equipment.
