Burned AL Firefighter Greeted on Tarmac by Applauding Colleagues

Montgomery Capt. Donald L. Crenshaw Jr. was seriously burned in a May 14 house fire.

Montgomery firefighters applauded as Capt. Donald L. Crenshaw Jr. was moved from an aircraft at Montgomery Aviation Airport to an ambulance Wednesday afternoon. 

He was one of five firefighters injured during a house fire on May 14. Deandre M. Hartman, 34, who suffered extensive burns around his biceps as well as injuries to his lungs and eyes remains hospitalized, WSFA reported.

Crenshaw, 45, waved with bandaged hands and had a big smile on his face as his colleagues followed his stretcher to the Rescue 94 ambulance. 

He has been in the Intensive Burn Unit at UAB hospital after suffering second and third-degree burns over 20 percent of his body. The treatment will continue.
