A Glencoe firefighter is recovering after he was seriously injured responding to a call on Saturday.
Firefighter David Miller was flown to UC Medical Center where he will undergo several surgeries.
The engine veered off the road and struck a culvert after the driver encountered a car on the one-lane road, according to Local 12.
"When he did, he lost control of the truck and it overturned several times into a field. He's in serious condition and he's had multiple surgeries to repair fractures in his back,” Glencoe VFD Chief, Bud Webster told reporters.
Miller was ejected from the rig.
The 16-member department will make do despite being an engine down.
"It does put us down a little bit, that truck was a significant firefighting piece for us, for our county, we used it primarily for rural firefighting activities,” he explained adding that neighboring companies will be responding to help if needed.
