A special Christmas celebration at Baltimore Engine Co. 43 on Sunday complete with Santa, the Grinch and presents, of course.
The guests included the two children and other family of Firefighter Rodney Pitts III, 31, who died in October of injuries sustained in a row house fire.
"We're taking it day-by-day, hour-by-hour, minute-by-minute. Trying not to let the kids feel you know the burden of it all," Natasha Holmes, Pitts' fiancé, told WMAR.
While it's been extremely difficult since his death, she added that she's blessed to be supported by the firefighters and the community.
Capt. Charlie Mueller says he is honored to have Engine Company 43 host the Christmas gathering.
"When we lose one, it's pretty rough, and we want to share our hope and strength with the family, especially the kids, because you know it's their first Christmas without dad,"
The family also got to look at a new engine that Engine Co. 29 is dedicating to Pitts.
