Firefighter Struck at Florida Interstate Crash Caused by Bear

A Bayshore firefighter was struck on Interstate 75 while working a crash that was caused by a bear on the roadway.

The driver who struck a Bayshore firefighter on Interstate 75 Sunday night was arrested.

Firefighters from the Bayshore Fire Department responded to the crash on where several vehicle struck a bear on the interstate, the Florida Highway Patrol told WINK News.

While firefighters were working the crash scene, a driver struck one firefighter.

The firefighter was treated and transported to the hospital, where the condition was not released.

The crash happened at marker 145, near Tuckers Grade.

The Highway Patrol said the bear died in the crash.

Police said charges include driving without a license and driving under the influence for the driver who struck the firefighter, 43-year-old Herminio Olvera Sanchez.
