A firefighter on Wednesday fell through the floor and landed on another firefighter while battling a blaze at a Franklin County home, according to the responding agency.

Around 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, crews with the Franklin Fire Company were dispatched to the 300 block of East King Street in Chambersburg for a two-story home on fire.

First responders rescued one person from the home using a ladder. Flames were found on both the first and second floors.

During a search, firefighters noted the floors had several holes throughout the home.

After crews went to the second floor, a firefighter fell through the floor and landed on another firefighter below.

The fire captain immediately sent out a mayday call, which was canceled moments later after the two firefighters were able to exit the home through a nearby door.

No firefighters reported injuries, and all crew members returned to extinguish the blaze. The cause of the fire remains unclear.
