When a fire department purchases a Sutphen, that department joins the Sutphen Experience. This Sutphen Experience, as it is known, is an experience that only a family-owned manufacturer can provide. For more than 136 years, this experience has helped earn the loyalty of fire departments across the country, bringing them back to Sutphen for new apparatus, service support, and parts.
For the City of Dearborn Fire Department, located just outside Detroit, Michigan, its relationship with Sutphen dates back over a century to 1907, when the department purchased an extinguisher cart from C.H. Sutphen. Today, that piece, along with other antique firefighting equipment sold by C.H. Sutphen to the City of Dearborn, is displayed in the front lobby of Sutphen’s Urbana facility.
With multiple units on order, the City of Dearborn Fire Department continues to place its trust in Sutphen Corporation more than a century after its first purchase.

Recently, the Jerome Township Fire Department took delivery of their newest Sutphen, an SPH 100. Located just miles from Sutphen's Central Ohio headquarters, the department has relied on Sutphen apparatus since its founding 35 years ago.
"Sutphen always takes care of us," said Justin French, fire chief of the Jerome Township Fire Department. "Whether it's getting us in quickly for maintenance or always answering our calls, Sutphen is committed to supporting us every step of the way."
