The West Shore Fire District is one of three Fire Districts serving the City of West Haven, Connecticut. WSFD is a combination department with eight firefighters on duty at all times. There are four shifts and firefighters work a rotating schedule of 24 hours on and 72 hours off. This station houses the Shift Commander, which holds the rank of Captain and five firefighters. Coverage is to a primarily residential area, with some industry, and includes a major railway, I-95, and Long Island Sound.
