LOS ALTOS HILLS — A man was hospitalized in serious condition Monday evening after he crashed an SUV into a Santa Clara County fire station at Foothills College, authorities said.

Just after 6 p.m., firefighters at the El Monte Fire Station heard a traffic collision and rushed outside to find that an SUV had driven into a masonry wall attached to the building.

The sole occupant of the SUV, identified only as an elderly man, was treated at the scene by firefighters and transported to Stanford Health Care in serious condition, authorities said.
