A GoFundMe was established to help the Homewood Acres fire department recover after a group of kids damaged every room in their fire station.

A group of kids broke into the Homewood Acres fire station causing $100,000 in damage and kicking the department's firefighters in the gut.

Surveillance video captured the group going room by room inside the small volunteer fire station after they threw something through the window to gain access.

"We didn't know what to think," Chief Bryan Rouson told CBS Chicago. "We were speechless."

Rouson said the kids, carrying hammers, damaged all 11 rooms at the firehouse, breaking cabinet doors, furniture was knocked over, a refrigerator was tipped over

"I think we'd be better off if they had burned it to the ground," Rouson said.

Investigators believe the culprits are between the ages of 9 and 14.

"It just makes me want to cry," a firefighter told the television station.

Officials say damages topped $100,000 and also stole $160 in cash.

A GoFundMe was established to help the department recover from the incident.
