Tensor Medical Systems Releases AI-Driven Platform to EMS Agencies for Quality Improvement
Emergency medical services (EMS)-focused healthcare technology, Tensor Medical Systems, recently announced the release of its AI-powered quality improvement platform, which will assist EMS agencies in streamlining chart review, enhancing clinical oversight, and instantly identifying operational trends and bottlenecks.
Tensor Medical Systems was founded by University of Michigan students Ayden Ng, Alex Zhang, George Huynh and Gavin Trongnetpanya with the goal of modernizing EMS quality assurance (QA) by lowering the administrative load related to manual chart review. Tensor makes it possible to analyze 100 percent of charts for protocol deviations at a lower cost than traditional QA, which usually depends on the haphazard, resource-intensive assessment of a small fraction of patient care reports (ePCRs). By automatically identifying important clinical and operational patterns, Tensor enables agencies to monitor individual provider metrics and more effectively target training initiatives throughout their organization.
“I’ve always wanted to become a physician, but after starting my journey in EMS and working on the ambulance, I became inspired by the opportunity to improve healthcare not only through direct patient care, but also through technology,” said Ng. “I saw firsthand how much valuable data EMS agencies collect every day, and how difficult it can be to turn that information into meaningful action. There is simply not enough time to review every single chart, and identifying trends across thousands of reports is even harder — but failing to do so can create significant risks with billing, compliance, agency culture, and most importantly, public safety. We founded Tensor to ultimately improve patient care.”
At national EMS conferences like the AAA Annual Conference & Trade Show and the EMS Summit, Tensor Medical Systems recently made connections with EMS leaders. The company intends to carry on the conversation about the future of quality improvement in prehospital medicine at the 2026 EMS World Expo. As demand from EMS agencies grows, the founders are getting ready to pursue Tensor Medical Systems full-time.
According to Tensor Medical Systems, contemporary analytics infrastructure that automates QA in a fraction of the time and cost will be crucial to enhancing both clinical outcomes and operational efficiency as EMS agencies deal with rising call counts and payment issues. A glimpse of the provider progress reports, which reveal performance indicators by examining both the NEMSIS fields and the narrative of each ePCR, is seen on the right.
