AwareCA Available in Apple Apple Store, Google Play
Intterra declared that AwareCA is now accessible on Google Play and the Apple App Store. AwareCA, created by Intterra in collaboration with California public safety organizations, links locals and tourists with prompt, free emergency information straight from the organizations handling crises. To keep people informed during emergencies, the app combines incident updates, interactive emergency maps, evacuation orders and warnings and other vital information.
“Public safety agencies work tirelessly to deliver accurate information during rapidly evolving incidents,” said Robert Wolf, CEO of Intterra. “Unverified noise and non-authoritative sources are confusing and dangerous, especially during large-scale incidents. AwareCA evolved from a powerfully simple principle: authoritative emergency information should be easier to share, find, and trust.”
As previously reported, CAL FIRE used a competitive procedure to choose Intterra's AwareCA to create a new public safety information platform for the entire state of California. The platform lessens the need for citizens to piece together information from disparate sources during quickly changing crises by assisting public safety organizations in providing authoritative updates to the communities they serve.
“California communities face increasingly complex threats, including wildfires, floods, hazardous materials and other large-scale emergencies,” Wolf continued. “The demand for reliable public information has never been greater.”
The community features offered by AwareCA are free and allow users to:
- Customize notification distances and save sites of interest.
- Get incident reports straight from participating law enforcement organizations.
- Examine shelter and support locations, evacuation warning and order zones, and event updates.
- Select the hazard layers and map views.
- Keep track of events and notify friends, family, and other connections.
- Examine flight patterns and reaction aircraft.
- Get access to ALERTCalifornia wildfire cameras and Caltrans traffic cameras.
