Tait Communications, Zetron's Voice Console Technology Placed in New Zealand's Land Mobile Radio Network
Tait Communications and Zetron have collaborated to successfully deploy voice console technology for emergency services in New Zealand.
Tait hired Zetron to provide voice consoles that will be included into the communications systems of the organizations utilizing New Zealand's new Public Safety Network (PSN) Land Mobile Radio (LMR) network. The Agencies were brought together by Crown corporation SafetyNet Critical Communications (SafetyNet), which also provided support for their collaboration with Tait Communications and Zetron.
The first half of 2026 saw the completion of the voice console technology's implementation. Hato Hone St John and Wellington Free Ambulance will follow New Zealand Police and Fire and Emergency New Zealand in implementing the new approach.
Emergency communications dispatchers can effectively, dependably, and securely interact with and coordinate first responders in the field thanks to Zetron's voice console technology.
Since 2022, Tait has been a significant vendor in the construction of the PSN's Land Mobile Radio network throughout New Zealand, which is an essential component of the government's public safety communications ecosystem that SafetyNet is implementing. The LMR network, which is built on Project 25 (P25) standards technology, will give emergency services the cutting-edge, reliable, and secure radio technology they require to improve their vital communications and contribute to the safety of New Zealand communities.
“Tait’s open-standards interoperable technology allows our customers to select the best technology partners to best serve their needs,” said Yoram Benit, Tait Communications' CEO and managing director. “Zetron is a member of Tait’s Technology Partner Program, and we value Zetron’s collaboration to deliver a robust mission-critical radio network to New Zealand’s emergency services agencies.”
For almost 40 years, Zetron has offered vital communications solutions all around the world. Zetron's solutions are fully compatible and prepared for more extensive SafetyNet communications initiatives, such as broadband PTT (push-to-talk) over cellular and 3GPP standards-based MCX (mission critical communications) for voice, video, and other data, even though Zetron voice consoles will be installed to support voice communications across the nationwide P25 network.
“Tait and Zetron have a long history of working together to successfully deliver some of the largest and most critical communications networks in the world, and we are honoured to partner with Tait in support of the New Zealand PSN initiative,” said Scott French, Zetron president and executive general manager. “Our shared commitments to high quality, standards-based solutions are aligned to offer customers optimal interoperability, flexibility and choice in meeting their specific requirements at every step of the emergency response continuum.”
