One person was injured this past weekend when a fire vehicle veered off the roadway in slippery conditions, overturned and struck a tree near Columbia.

According to The Missourian newspaper, the Ford F-450 fire vehicle was responding to an emergency call and traveling north on Missouri 763 toward U.S. 63 when the driver lost control on a patch of ice just before 1 a.m. Sunday.

Kyle Voeller, the 19-year-old driver of the vehicle, was reportedly uninjured, but passenger Cameron Spalding, who is also 19, suffered unspecified minor injuries and was transported by Boone County Ambulance to University Hospital.

According to Facebook profiles, the two teens are volunteers with the Boone County Fire Protection District.
