IN Fire Apparatus Involved in Fatal Crash with Another Vehicle

A vehicle traveling at a high speed hit a curb, spun out of control and struck a Fort Wayne Fire Department apparatus responding to a call.

A crash involving an Indiana fire apparatus and another vehicle killed one person and seriously injured another Saturday.

The accident happened shortly after 8 a.m. as Fort Wayne firefighters were responding to a call, WANE-TV reports. An oncoming vehicle traveling at a high speed hit a curb and spun out of control, striking the apparatus.

The passenger in the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene, and the driver was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. No firefighters were injured in the crash.

The driver of the apparatus was given the routine protocol for drivers in a fatal accident, according to WANE.
