Feb. 17, 2020
The TransCare ambulance in Tampa was carrying two EMTs, a patient and family members when the vehicle was struck Sunday by a 2016 Ford Fusion that had run a red light.

An ambulance with a patient, family members and two EMTs was rolled over onto its side after a driver hit the side of the emergency vehicle, according to the Tampa Police Department.

At 8:46 a.m. Sunday, the TransCare ambulance was heading west on East Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. A 2016 Ford Fusion ran a red light at the intersection with North 15th Street, hitting the ambulance on the side and causing it to roll over, police said.

Nobody in the car or ambulance was seriously injured. A second ambulance came to take the patient and family the rest of the way.

The driver of the Ford Fusion, who was not named by police, was cited for running a red light, police said.
