A woman is accused of stealing a Los Angeles Fire Department ambulance before slamming into a pole early Friday.
The incident happened shortly before 3:30 a.m. as firefighters were responding to an emergency in the city's North Hills neighborhood, KCBS-TV reports. According to police, a woman allegedly got into an ambulance at the scene and drove away.
The unit then traveled only three blocks before crashing into a pole. The woman then fled on foot and is still at large.
The crash caused some damage to the ambulance. The tires of the unit also were slashed.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
