Ambulance with Medic, Patient Stolen from Crash Scene in Novi, MI

NOVI, MI – An ambulance was stolen from a crash scene in Novi today with a paramedic and patient still inside, Medstar officials said.

The incident led to a crash and subsequent fire in Northville Township that injured four people, according to a news release from Medstar.

Medstar Ambulance was treating multiple patients when the ambulance was stolen around 3:25 p.m. on Oct. 24, according to the release.

The company was able to track the vehicle throughout the incident.

The paramedic, original patient, patient in the vehicle struck in the second accident and the driver were all taken to Henry Ford Providence Novi Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the release.

The ambulance was deemed a total loss.

“We are grateful for the safety of our crew, the response of our partner agencies, and the bystanders who helped,” Kolby Miller, Medstar CEO, said in a statement. “We are working with Novi and Northville Police Departments in the investigation.”
