Man Charged in Hit-and-Run Ambulance Crash that Injured Troy, NY, Firefighters
TROY — A car on Sunday night smashed into a city ambulance, hit a parked vehicle, and fled the scene, according to the Fire Department.
The ambulance was struck at around 8 p.m., leaving two firefighters with minor injuries, Fire Chief Richard Cellucci said. They were treated at nearby Samaritan Hospital and released.
No patients were in the ambulance.
According to Cellucci, an ambulance crew was traveling westbound on Peoples Avenue when a car heading southbound from 10th Street struck the ambulance's front and side. It hit another vehicle on the street before three people in the car fled the scene on foot.
Cellucci believes that the ambulance is totaled, but isn’t certain.
“If it’s not totaled, it’s heavily damaged,” Cellucci said.
Troy police are investigating the case.
