Historic FDNY Fireboat Docks at CT City for Summer

Fire Fighter, the FDNY's fireboat from 1938 to 2010, will be docked in New London through July for demonstrations and maintenance before sailing on to Mystic.

Fire Fighter, the 80-year-old retired FDNY fireboat turned floating museum.

The Fireboat Fire Fighter docked at City Pier on Sunday in New London. Fire Fighter, which served as a Fire Department of the City of New York fireboat from 1938 to 2010, sailed Sunday from Greenport, N.Y., to New London where it will port for the summer.

The boat will be docked in New London through July for maintenance as well as offering tours and demonstrations during Sailfest, before it continues on to Mystic said Charlie Ritchie, president of the Fireboat Fire Fighter Museum.
