July 6, 2020
Two Portsmouth paramedics were injured when the car of a 21-year-old man with a fatal gunshot wound collided with their medic unit, which was pulling out of the station.

A gunshot victim crashed into a medic vehicle parked in the driveway of a Virginia fire station early Monday, injuring two EMS workers.

Before the crash at the Portsmouth firehouse, which happened shortly before 1:30 a.m., Tysheek A. Spivey, 21, had been shot in the upper body, WAVY-TV reports. Fatally wounded, Spivey pulled into the station's driveway, colliding head-on with a medic unit, which was leaving the apparatus bay.

Spivey was extricated from his car and taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Two paramedics were injured in the crash, but details about their injuries were not known.

Police have ruled Spivey's death a homicide and are investigating.
