Harrison, ID, Fire District Changing to Better Serve Public

Feb. 15, 2024
East Side Fire District purchased an ambulance and is building a new fire station.

A fire department in Harrison is making significant strides to answer the needs of its ever-growing poplulation.

Not only did East Side Fire District purchase its own ambulance, there's also a new station under constuction.

When some residents in the East Side community had to wait 30 minutes for an ambulance from the city of Coeur d'Alene to arrive, officers knew they had to do something.

"When it comes to medical stuff and patients, time is everything. There's wait times up to 30 minutes only because of distance," Chief Jerry Lynn told KREM.

Now, residents typically see EMS crews within 10 minutes.

Lynn pointed out that a $1 million fire station is being built next to the current one.

The three bay station will have additional space for training as well as administrative staff.

"We should be, hopefully, living in here or operating in here by the end of the year into November."
