Police say the 29-year-old driver did not slow down, slamming into an aerial ladder from South Montgomery County Fire Department.

A woman was killed after her car slammed into a piece of apparatus from the South Montgomery County Fire Department early Sunday.

The ladder truck was blocking a crash scene on northbound Interstate 45 near Rayford Road that was reported about 1 a.m.

About two hours after they arrived, the driver of a Toyota Corolla slammed into the back of the ladder truck, according to the Montgomery County Police Reporter.

Police said the 29-year-old driver failed to slow down before the collision, and the impact moved the apparatus. Inside the rig were three firefighters, who were uninjured.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Fire officials told the Police Reporter that the rig may be totaled, due to the damage it sustained.
