Nashville firefighter Jesse Reed went missing on March 6 after his vehicle plunged into the Tennessee River.

A fisherman found the body of Nashville firefighter Jesse Reed, who went missing almost two weeks ago.

Reed, 32, was in his vehicle when it went into the Tennessee River near Waverly on March 6. His wife escaped from the sinking vehicle, but searchers were unable to locate Reed.

The fisherman called police after he discovered the body around 11:30 a.m. Saturday, according to Fox17.com.

The Humphreys County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that it was Reed and an autopsy has been ordered.

Engine 2, where Reed was assigned, joined the procession to escort Reed's body back to Nashville.

"It's like a family, you've lost a member of your family, it's very emotional and it's a trying time in the fire department," Nashville firefighter Walter Demonbreun told Fox17.com.

"Our hearts are with his family and his brothers and sisters," in the Nashville Fire Department, Mayor David Briley said in a tweet.
