Glitch Cancels Promotional Tests for Chicago Firefighters

Jan. 29, 2020
Chicago fire officials cancelled the tests for chiefs this week after technical problems from the vendor, who still has to see if any retesting is needed for firefighters who already took the exam.

The Chicago Fire Department has canceled promotional tests scheduled for this week due to technical issues, according to a city spokesman.

Firefighters were sitting for promotional tests this week to become lieutenants and chiefs, but the chiefs test scheduled for Wednesday was canceled, a spokesman said. The Fire Department blamed the canceled tests on a vendor’s technical problems.

The vendor still has to see if any retesting will be needed for people who already took the exam this week.

A spokesman said the test rescheduling should happen on a short turnaround, but it’s not clear when that will be.
