IN Firefighters Outlook Favorable After Trustees Conviction

Jan. 11, 2022
Wabash Township board members pledge to bring back their full-time firefighters after they were eliminated by a previous trustee who was recently convicted.

Firefighters in Wabash Township may be getting their jobs back after township trustee Jennifer Teising, who eliminated them, lost her position after a conviction.

Teising had eliminated the full-time positions last summer even though board members contended there were ample funds to maintain them.

In an interview with WTHR, interim trustee Angel Valentin stated, he and board members are working to bring back the three firefighters whose positions were eliminated over the summer by former trustee Jennifer Teising.

Teising was found guilty on multiple counts of theft. According to prosecutors, Teising was living outside of the township while collecting a trustee paycheck. As a result of the verdict, Teising can no longer hold the trustee position.
