Four Wabash Township firefighters will be returning to work after they were terminated by a former trustee who was convicted of theft earlier this month.
Trustee Angel Valentín announced that Wabash Township's paid firefighters: Joe Wade, Travis Merkle and Drew Hampton will return to work Monday, along with Fire Chief Ed Ward, according to the Journal & Courier.
They were terminated last summer by Jennifer Teising, the former trustee who was the found guilty on multiple charges of theft.
The township board will work to approve funding for firefighters’ salaries, benefits and retirement in the coming weeks, according to Vlaentin.
There is still pending litigation against the Teising and the township regarding this matter.
