Jun. 22—A San Antonio Fire Department captain was suspended indefinitely without pay after he pointed a gun at two firefighters during a shift change earlier this year, according to suspension records.

Captain Rogelio Loredo was found to have violated numerous department policies, including a "lack of moral character," records show. The suspension was effective April 15.

During a shift change on Feb. 22, while in his vehicle on department property, Loredo pointed a gun at two firefighters standing near the bay doors, documents show. Loredo continued to point the weapon, described as a semi-automatic pistol, the documents continued.

Investigators said he waved it back-and-forth at the firefighters while he backed away from the station.

One firefighter said he ducked behind a fire engine. The other moved when he realized he was "staring down the barrel of a gun," investigators said.

According to the suspension report, "Loredo was upset that day."

When he was later confronted by one of the firefighters, Loredo said he took the magazine out and "did not have his finger on the trigger," the report said.

During the investigation, Loredo admitted to waving the pistol at the two firefighters but initially told investigators that it was an airsoft pellet pistol. He later amended his original statement, saying that the description had been untruthful, according to suspension documents.

Loredo also told investigators that he was "just joking around," records show.
