MA Board Approves Funding $11M Discrimination Suit

The city board decided to take out a loan to pay the $11 million settlement for former Brookline firefighter Gerald Alston.

The Brookline Town Board opted to take out a loan to pay the $11 million awarded to former firefighter Gerald Alston. 

Eleven years ago, Alston filed a racial discrimination lawsuit after a supervisor left a voicemail using a racial slur. 

The supervisor retired and Alston was fired, citing he was unfit for duty.
